Keith Haring (1958-1990) was a Pop Art artist whose work originated in the 1980s New York City graffiti scene. His bright, colorful figures were accessible to mass audiences, but he used them to address social issues, like AIDS, drug use, and apartheid. He died of AIDS-related complications in 1990 at age 31.
